Types of Contribution

There are many ways you can contribute to the DroneNLP project, regardless of your skill level or area of expertise.

  • Dataset Contributions (Highly Encouraged! )
    • We highly encourage researchers, drone enthusiasts, and professionals who have access to raw flight logs to submit them to us. These submissions are invaluable for expanding our dataset with new scenarios, drone models, and real-world messages.
    • Your submitted logs will be handled with confidentiality and rigor, undergoing our transparent cleansing and annotation process before being included as additional test sets and scenarios for the community. Please contact us via email to initiate a discussion about sharing your data.
  • Code Contributions: Help us improve our data cleansing scripts, develop new NLP models for the tasks we've defined, or create new tools for data analysis.
  • Documentation: Enhance our project website by improving existing pages, fixing typos, or writing new guides and blog posts.
  • Feedback & Ideas: Your insights are invaluable. Report bugs, suggest new NLP tasks, or share innovative ideas on how to use our dataset.

How to Contribute

We follow a standard open-source contribution workflow to ensure a smooth and collaborative process.

  1. Open an Issue: Before starting any major work, please open a GitHub Issue to discuss your ideas or contributions. This helps us avoid duplicated effort and ensures your work aligns with the project's goals.
  2. Fork the Repository: Fork our project repository to your personal GitHub account.
  3. Clone & Create a Branch: Clone your forked repository locally and create a new branch for your work.
  4. Make Your Changes: Implement your code, make documentation edits, or perform your dataset annotations.
  5. Submit a Pull Request (PR): Push your changes to your forked repository and submit a Pull Request to our main branch. Provide a clear title and description of your changes, and reference the issue you opened.

Welcome!

We are excited to see your contributions and welcome you to the DroneNLP community. Please read our CONTRIBUTING.md file (forthcoming) for a more detailed guide on our contribution policies.
